How long does orthodontic treatment take?
Most courses of treatment run somewhere between one and three years depending on how far the teeth need to move and which appliance is used. Your orthodontist will give an estimate after the initial assessment and x-rays.
Am I too old for braces?
There is no upper age limit. Adults are treated routinely, provided the gums and supporting bone are healthy. An examination will confirm whether you are suitable.
Do I need to wear a retainer afterwards?
Yes. Teeth drift back towards their original position after the braces come off, so a retainer is needed to hold the result. Your orthodontist will explain how long to wear it.
